Breeder Simon Chappell had a tough decision to make before his Brazen Beau / She's a Worldie filly went through the ring at the Goffs UK Premier sale last August. Should he train his filly or sell?

When BLACKBERRY won her first start wearing his colours in a very good time at Hamilton, he knew that he had made the right choice. Serendipity had stepped in beside him and he was now £20,000 better off with a Great British Bonus And his trainer Bryan Smart is intent on finding more opportunities for BLACKBERRY to win multiple bonuses. "This scheme is fantastic for the sport. I will be advertising the benefits far and wide to my owners."

Simon Chappell keeps about four mares with Kate Sigsworth at West Moor Stud, where BLACKBERRY was foaled and reared. He had raced her dam in partnership before buying out his partner in order to breed from her. She started her new career impressively when her first foal Decrypt was third in the Irish 2000 Guineas before heading to Hong Kong. BLACKBERRY is yet another potential star and Bryan Smart will be considering Stakes company soon.

There will be no major heartaches over the future of the yearling half-sister to BLACKBERRY, by Twilight Son. Kate Sigsworth commented: "She will now definitely go in to training for Simon Chappell. The new GBB scheme makes such a decision very easy."
