When KOHINOOR won a GBB race at Haydock on Friday 3rd July, she achieved many objectives for her connections. Her trainer Clive Cox exclaimed.. "This is huge! I am so thrilled for Sheikh Sultan from Bahrein. He has been a massive supporter of the stable and we recently won the Commonwealth Cup Group 1 at Royal Ascot with Golden Horde, another of his Doncaster purchases. We purchased this filly for Sheikh Sultan at Goffs UK Premier sale for £100,000. Winning a £20,000 bonus from GBB is the icing on the cake and will surely focus his and our minds on continuing to buy British bred fillies in the future."

The breeder of KOHINOOR was Whitsbury Manor Stud, who consigned her as a yearling at Doncaster, where she advertised the athleticism of a first season sire and caught the attention of many prospective purchasers. She was a half sister to the Group winner Good Vibes and looks as if she may well achieve such class herself on the racecourse in the future. Ed Harper, manager of Whitsbury Stud was ecstatic with the seventh individual winner for his resident stallion Adaay and the first GBB winner for stud and stallion. The £4000 bonus to the breeder boosted the excitement. Harper stated.. "This is exactly what the scheme was set up to do to bring foreign investment to buy British bred fillies to race in Great Britain. A boost for every section of the industry."

The name of the filly could also suggest serendipity. The Kohinoor diamond is one of the largest cut diamonds in the world and is part of the British Crown Jewels. Has Clive Cox found a treasure trove for his patrons, grown from the Wiltshire soil farmed by the Harper family?
