Keeping the faith

When LADY BOWES won a NH Flat race for Cartmel trainer Jimmy Moffatt at Perth on August 11th, she completed the cycle for Simon and Julie Wilson from Liverpool. They also raced her dam with Moffatt, but never made it to the winner's enclosure with her. However, keeping the faith, they mated her with Malinas (who was standing locally at Yorton Farm at the time) and have now reaped the rewards with LADY BOWES. The trainer stated "She is sure to win a Novice Hurdle and I will make sure that it is in Mares Only races to be sure of winning a £20,000 bonus with her."

As it is, the £5,000 bonus for winning a NH Flat race in Open Company was twice the prize money won by LADY BOWES. "That's absolutely fantastic" enthused the trainer. "We desperately need a scheme like this to keep our owner/breeders in the game."
