Monday 1st April proved to be an exciting day for GBB as FLICKA'S GIRL pushed the scheme past the £14 million milestone. Her win in the 5f Class 4 Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton landed her connections a £10,000 GBB bonus and was the first 2-year-old winner of 2024 for the scheme. The David Loughnane trained filly was also the first GBB winner for first season sire Sergei Prokofiev who currently has a record of two winners to two runners.

Bred by the leading commercial breeder of GBB winners, Whitsbury Manor Stud, FLICKA's GIRL was purchased from the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 22,000gns in 2022 before heading to the Doncaster Premier Sale the following year. There she was purchased for £32,000 by Compas Equine and Dave Loughnane for clients Twenty Four Seven Recruitment.
She was an impressive runner winning her debut four- and three-quarter lengths clear of the second placed Bob the Bandit. The Racing Post reports that connections have their eyes set on the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester and a run at Royal Ascot.
