The Great British Bonus (GBB) is pleased to announce a significant enhancement to its discount structure for fillies registered under both Flat and National Hunt codes, in a move designed to support breeders, promote versatility, and increase long-term value in British-bred fillies.

From today, breeders registering a filly under both codes will now receive a £150 discount on the combined Stage 1 registration fees. In addition, Thoroughbred Breeders Association (TBA) members will continue to benefit from a £200 member discount, bringing the total Stage 1 cost for dual registration down to just £400 - a potential saving of £550.

Non-members will also benefit from the updated structure, paying £800 (down from £950) for dual registration at Stage 1.

The existing £50 discount at Stage 2 will also remain in place, further supporting breeders who choose to back their fillies across both codes.

Unlock £200,000 in GBB Bonuses
Dual registration makes fillies eligible for GBB bonuses both on the Flat and over jumps - with a total earning potential of up to £200,000. £100,000 per code is available to fillies by British-based stallions, while those fillies by stallions standing outside of Britain remain eligible for £50,000 per code (£100,000 total).

This offers a significant incentive for breeders and owners to invest in dual-purpose fillies and British stallions.

Why the change?
This adjustment is part of GBBs wider aim to:
Encourage the development of staying and dual-purpose fillies
Support the sales potential of fillies that can transition between Flat and NH racing
Improve long-term earning prospects for breeders and owners through GBB bonuses across both codes
Strengthen the appeal of staying/NH stallions for use in both Flat and NH breeding

Despite the opportunity dual registration provides, uptake remains low, with just 39 of 1,724 fillies in the 2024 foal crop (2.2%) currently registered for both codes. The revised discount structure seeks to address that by making dual registration significantly more accessible.

GBB Operations Manager, Charlie Newton commented:
This change is a practical step towards rewarding the versatility of British-bred fillies. By easing the cost barrier, we hope to encourage more breeders to register their fillies for both codes and unlock the full earning potential that GBB offers.
Britain has an enviable range of stallions who are capable of producing dual-purpose performers. The successes of Trawlerman, winner of the Gr.1 Gold Cup at Ascot, and Golden Ace, winner of the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, who are both by Golden Horn, shows just how versatile British stallions can be.

Planteur at Chapel Stud and Postponed at Yorton Farm Stud are further example of great stallions capable of producing stock with Flat and jumps potential. This discount strengthens the case for dual registration and makes it easier for breeders to maximise the value of their fillies across both codes.

Breeders can register dual-purpose fillies online and take advantage of the new structure immediately.
