The Thoroughbred Breeders Association (TBA), Weatherbys, and the Great British Bonus (GBB) are once again collaborating to offer Transfer of Ownership amnesties at the following 2025 foal sales:

Goffs UK British National Hunt Breeders Showcase Friday 31 October 2025

Tattersalls December Foal Sale Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 November 2025

Foals purchased during the above sales by British and Irish-based owners will be eligible for free Transfer of Ownership updates with the General Stud Book (GSB). To take advantage of this, buyers should submit a Defra Change of Ownership form and the paper passport to the on-site Weatherbys office at either Goffs or Tattersalls during the respective sale.

Timely compliance with legislative requirements, including Transfer of Ownership and deceased reporting, remains vital to maintaining lifetime traceability within the thoroughbred sector. Ensuring ownership records are accurate with the GSB at every GBB registration stage also guarantees that bonuses are correctly paid to the rightful recipients - namely, those who own the filly and make payments at each stage.

Passports for any deceased thoroughbreds may also be returned to the Weatherbys site office at either sale, along with written notification of the date of death.

Breeders are reminded that it is a legal requirement to notify the GSB within 30 days of a Transfer of Ownership or fatality.

The TBA thanks all breeders for their continued diligence in maintaining accurate records - a crucial element in supporting the industrys traceability framework and ensuring the sector can account for thoroughbreds at every stage of life.
